Accelerating E-Mobility in Thailand through the Market Mechanism of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (ITMOs): E-Mobility Program for Thailand

​In June 2022, Thailand signed a bilateral climate agreement with Switzerland under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This agreement opens a financing opportunity for projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Thailand, including E-Mobility, a technology that allows reducing dependence on carbon-intensive fossil fuels such as gasoline or diesel for transportation.  

The E-Mobility Program will accelerate the transition to E-Mobility through the participation of various key actors linked to the transportation sector (owners, suppliers or manufacturers of the technology, investors, operators, leasing companies, among others).

The Program will promote electric mobility in different categories of electric vehicles:

​The Program is expected to have coverage throughout the country, to support the widespread use of this type of low or zero-emission transport, which, in addition to contributing to the mitigation of climate change, will also have benefits for people’s health and quality of life by reducing air and noise pollution.

​Currently, we are advancing in the early stages of evaluation to later request the registration of the Program with the Ministry of the Department of Climate Change and Environment of Thailand and the Designated National Authority of Switzerland.
